Introduction to Buddha Tianran
The Patriarch’s last name was Zhang, and his given name was Kuisheng. The Patriarch’s later name was Guangbi, and his Tao title was Tianran. The Patriarch’s hometown was Jining, Shandong. He was the incarnation of Jigong Living Buddha.
The Patriarch was born on the nineteenth day of the seventh month of the Chinese lunar calendar in 1889. His family was moderately prosperous, and he received strict teachings from his family. He was well-versed in the books of the sages.
In 1915, when the Patriarch was twenty-seven years old, he encountered Master Chu and received the Great Tao. The Patriarch had faith in Tao immediately and began to cultivate and practice. He introduced Tao to sixty-four people within a few years, so he was able to help his late father attain salvation. After Master Chu returned to heaven, the Patriarch followed Patriarch Lu.
In 1930, the Almighty mandated the Patriarch and the Matriarch to receive the Heavenly Decree together to continue the Lineage of Tao and to save the living beings of the three worlds. Holy spirits performed miracles to help with the mission everywhere and affirmed the Heavenly Decree of the Enlightening Masters. On the fifteenth day of the eighth month of the Chinese lunar calendar in 1947, the Patriarch returned to Heaven. He was fifty-nine. The Almighty conferred on him the Heavenly Title of Buddha Tianran.
When the Patriarch returned to heaven, Tao communities had been established throughout the country. Although the Patriarch had attained perfection, he still cared for the living beings and performed miracles in many places. The Patriarch had given many revelations and holy songs that inspired people’s conscience and moved people’s heart.
